GREG HELMER SUPERINTENDENT RAVENNA PUBLIC SCHOOLS, LEADERSHIP COACH, AUTHOR, FACILITATOR Greg recently published a book titled, “Lead with Endurance.” LwE is a book focused on milestones for improving life and leadership. Greg holds 20 years of experience in educational leadership, serving in a variety of roles as a Principal, Assistant Superintendent, and Superintendent. In 2012, Greg was named the MEMSPA Outstanding Principal of Year and in 2013, Greg had the honor of being selected as the NAESP National Distinguished Principal of Year. Greg specializes in organizational culture, building team, communications, strategic planning, and is a master at facilitating meetings. | DR. THOMAS BRUCE ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT, BERRIEN SPRINGS PUBLIC SCHOOLS Last
spring, Dr. Bruce was named upcoming Superintendent by the Board of
Education, after Dr. David Eichberg retires at the end of the 2022-23 school year. Dr.
Bruce refers to Berrien Springs Public Schools as a hybrid organization since
the campus has a little under 2000 students, yet the district boasts almost
5000 more across the state of Michigan. It offers a variety of
alternative programs for every type of learner. Berrien Springs is
focused on creating unique learning pathways and experiences for each student
through a student-centered design and cultural approach. Dr. Bruce is
excited about the value BSPS offers its students and their families. |
PAUL HARTSIG SUPERINTENDENT, BATH COMMUNITY SCHOOLS Seeking to follow in his father's footsteps, Paul worked tirelessly to become a Superintendent. Serving as Superintendent of Bath Community Schools since 2019, he takes initiative to connect with community members to garner support for district needs such as bonds. Paul began his career in 1995 as a teacher at Dowagiac Union Schools where he eventually became high school principal and, later, Superintendent. With over 15 years experience as an educational leader, Paul believes in striving to build relationships in both good and bad times. | GEORGE KACAN, AIA, REFP, NCARB, LEED AP EDUCATION SECTOR LEADER, REGIONAL DIRECTOR: WIGHTMAN George brings over 30 years of architectural experience, coupled with management expertise, to his role as Educational Market Sector Leader; focused on planning and designing educational facilities, diverse student experiences, and positive student outcomes. Over his career, he has worked with diverse clients and student groups across the country, including large urban school districts and very rural schools in remote areas such as Glasgow, MT, and Native American schools in Fort Washakie, WY. |
GREG MONBERG, AIA, MBA, ALEP, LEED AP DIRECTOR OF ARCHITECTURE, TRUSTEE ON THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS: WIGHTMAN Greg is a recognized thought leader in educational architectural design. He joined Wightman as Director of Architecture in 2017, before which he was Director of Design Research for Fanning Howey Associates, including 22 years as a project architect, project manager, and firm principal. He advocates meeting clients' needs through Design Thinking, a collaborative process that delivers high-quality, cost-effective solutions. Greg serves as the Midwest Great Lakes Regional representative on the Accredited Learning Environment Planner (ALEP) Commission. | CARL BAXMEYER, AICP, REFP

Carl played a critical role in helping communities across the United States develop municipal and private sector master planning projects and in aiding education clients with multimillion-dollar bond applications, facility and asset management assessments, and demographic studies and projections. In the process, he championed students, clients, industry partners, and fellow co-workers to identify needs, generate cost-effective solutions, and provide answers that were implementable. |
